In 2012, Mad Media’s Director of Photography, Vincent Knakal, cleaned enough dirt off his lenses to fill an olympic size swimming pool. Having shot all fifteen rounds of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (+Challenge Cup), nine rounds of Traxxas’ The Off-Road Championship Series (+Huseman Cup), four Best in the Desert races, two SCORE-International races and an abundance of private shoots, Vincent left these trail of photos from Mad Media’s travels from dirt to desert, sand to silt. WALKER EVANS RACING – WE RACE WHAT WE SELL
Mad Media had the opportunity to spend a couple days with motorsports manufacturer Walker Evans Racing to create “We Race What We Sell,” a piece devoted to showcasing the time, effort, and dedication that pours into each and every Walker Evans Racing product. We spent the first day filming with off-road racing legend, Walker Evans, tearing around Johnson Valley. Walker made the infamous Chocolate Thunder look like a walk in the park! On the second day, we cruised over to Walker Evans Racing HQ to meet up with Walker’s partner, Randy Anderson, to give us a behind the scenes look at what goes in to every single Walker Evans Racing product.
THIS IS DRIFTING
Drifting is as much an artform as it is a motorsports discipline. The athletes balance on the razor’s edge every time they take to the track; sometimes with disastrous results. To be successful, they must be willing to risk everything to come out on top. Mad Media presents: “This is Drifting”- a look into the world of sideways close-call precision driving, and the athletes that dominate the sport! Shot in beautiful 4K resolution on RED at the final round of the 2012 Formula Drift Championship season in Irwindale, CA.
