The Ken Block Gymkhana GRID Invitational was a race event that was created to celebrate the success of the Mad Media produced and directed Ken Block Gymkhana viral film series. It was Ken’s desire to create a competition platform for the sport of Gymkhana, and he asked us to produce a compelling and funny ad to promote the event, that harkened back to the old monster trucks ads of the 1980’s.
We utilized existing Gymkhana video footage, as well as key shots that we captured during the Gymkhana GRID Media Day, and produced a professional voice over treatment with the legendary Dick Ervasti. Full of funny outtakes, and a direct “call-out” to buddy Travis Pastrana – the clip was viewed 250,000 within 24 hours on YouTube.
