After completing the principal cinematography for a six-part series of commercials for Element Skateboards, Mad Media was contacted by director Kirk Dianda about performing advanced post-production services for their film “This is My Element”. The challenge for us was that the film contained video clips from six different DV cameras, shot under a myriad of lighting conditions, and with only on-camera microphones for audio pick-up. (Not by design – but as a byproduct of how skateboarding is shot from day to day). Mad Media utilized Digidesign Pro Tools and Soundtrack Pro software to restore and enhance the existing natural audio beds. We then used Apple’s new color correction/grading software Color, to conform the film to a consistent tone and make it broadcast legal. We worked with Element designer Marc Falkenstien, on the design of the DVD menu system, complete with an interactive chapter index, and programmed and authored a final master DLT using Apple’s DVD Studio Pro. |
